Background

I ♥ Photographs...I love seeing other peoples images, I love how a photographer can catch the moment or the beauty or the emotion of a subject and freeze it in time to be enjoyed or studied again and again. I like how the inriguing or the trivial or the mundane can be brought to life in a photograph.....I just love photos.

I also like taking photographs, I like to experiment, I like to try and do all the things I listed above....I guess at times the process can also be just as stimulating as the end result!

I'm strictly an Amatuer Photographer (for the time being) but I'm quite proud of some of the results I achieve and some of the things I've captured. If you like my work and want me to take some photographs for you please do not hesitate to contact me.

Flickr

Flickr is a photosharing site I use to keep all of my photos online. I use flickr beacause it has a great community of very talented photographers from all over the world sharing, discussing and obsessing about images. They also keep my images safe and generally look after me very well.

Please be aware though that just because I post images on the web does not mean you are free to use them for anything you please. I copyright all my images and I would ask that you respect that. If you do wish to use one of my images then by all means contact me. I very rarely say no to anyone and do not charge a fee (unless you are using the image for commercial purposes)... I just like to be asked and make new contacts!

Projects

I've found since starting this photography lark that the more photos I take the better I get at taking them, but just taking photos with no purpose can at times be quite difficult. To this end there are lots of groups on flickr that can help you out with ideas, challenges and contests.

I am currently taking part in the 365days and threesixtyfive groups....both groups ask you to take one self portrait every day for a year! its probabaly more daunting than it sounds! but I've found it a really positive experience so far...it has really improved my photography and forced me to be creative with my camera, lighting, processing, materials, locations (and more)and I've met and become friends with so many people along the way.....I'd highly recommend it.

What happens when i finish...who knows? maybe I'll do the 100strangers project...that interests me.

If your not into the whole flickr and/or projects thing (or even if you are) I'd recommend the digital photography school forum and blog as they are both fantastically huge resources for photography and full of good and interesting reading.

The DSLR is a recent purchase and I hope to expand and experiment with different lenses over the coming months (exciting times), I tend to have at least one camera on me at all times (who knows when a interesting photo opportunity may arise):
